A Beautiful Seed
"Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (Mark 11: 22-24 NIV).
A seed is a complex structure that takes many different components to grow. The outside of a seed is generally hard and tough, but on the inside there are intricate parts that allow for the eventual growth of a flower or plant. As women of God, there are times we wear a tough outer shell like this seed, but on the inside we are searching for purpose and feel so small on the inside.
You might be thinking how could such a small seed make a big impact on the world? Have you ever heard of the smallest seed on the Earth called the mustard seed? This seed is extremely small, but produces the largest garden plant of all. It allows for birds to rest on its branches and can withstand storms, but yet at one point in its life cycle, it was known as the smallest seed on the earth, viewed as hopeless or maybe even useless. I don’t know about you but I find this inspiring. We are the mustard seed. Mentally, there are times we may feel small and unsure of where to plant ourselves and we keep falling again and again, but when we let Jesus mend our mind and soul, we grow into the biggest, most beautiful plant in the garden.
Our faith in Jesus is what produces the fruit of confidence, purpose, and persistence. In Mark 11: 22-24 Jesus says, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Be a mustard seed that moves the mountains because of your faith and trust in Jesus. Believe that He calls you beloved. Though there are times that we question or doubt our worth, never forget that we have a Creator that calls us His own. In His eyes, He sees a beautiful seed ready to blossom into a strong Woman of God.
Dear God, I'm sorry for my unbelief. Please forgive me for the many times I've doubted you. Help me to know what it is to have faith in You. Show me how to speak to the mountains in my life. Thank you for the awesome God You are to me, the One who answers prayer and makes my wildest dreams reality. Amen.
Your turn: How do you struggle to trust God? Do you have a faith journey you'd like to share? I'd love to hear from you!
